Earn Your Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Prepare to become a registered nurse (RN) with your BSN degree—as quickly as possible—from a national leader in nursing education. At Rasmussen University, our CCNE-accredited BSN program offers multiple program entry tracks—each an efficient route to the same degree.

Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education

Our BSN Standard Degree, which is designed to be completed in as few as 33 months, is for those who haven’t yet earned a nursing diploma or degree.

  • If you are already a licensed practical nurse (LPN), you can save time on the completion of your BSN degree with our LPN to RN Bridge.

Our BSN Second Degree, which can be completed in as few as 18 months, is for those who already hold a Bachelor’s degree and want to make a career change into Nursing.

Prepare for the NCLEX-RN® exam and be on your way to becoming a confident RN.

  • 93% of our BSN students in Minnesota and 85.7% in Florida passed the NCLEX-RN® in 2023.

Already an RN? Our RN to BSN is a post-licensure track for currently licensed RNs to earn their BSN and can be completed online in as few as 12–18 months. Students interested in this option must possess a current, unencumbered RN licensure.

Plus, through our accelerated Master’s pathway, you can take up to two Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) courses as a part of your BSN program. You’ll save over $2,600 and begin one full quarter ahead to finish your MSN in as few as 15 months (or in as few as 27 months for MSN Nurse Practitioner specializations) if you decide to continue.

Education is an important investment—meet with an admissions advisor to get a complete picture of entrance requirements, admissions process and program costs. Already have a previous Bachelor’s or Master’s degree? You may be able to skip the TEAS entrance exam. Regardless of your educational background, you'll find a tailor-made path leading you to the same dream.

With a BSN, you gain the advanced skills to further your impact on patients as you learn:

  1. Patient Care: Learn patient-centered skills with a focus on caring for the whole person through on-campus simulations and clinical experiences at healthcare facilities in a variety of healthcare settings. Small BSN class sizes averaging 23 students help you practice more and build your network.
  2. Evidence-Based Practice and Treatment: Search and critique published research, and propose creative, innovative and evidence-based solutions to clinical practice problems.
  3. Leadership and Professional Identity: Examine the core values needed to create a professional identity that reflects leadership and management attributes.
  4. Baccalaureate Essentials and QSEN and NLN Competencies: Gain a solid theoretical foundation of nursing according to the Essentials of Baccalaureate Education for Professional Nursing and Quality and Safety Education for Nurses (QSEN) and National League for Nursing (NLN) competencies.

The BSN Standard Degree option is available with self-directed assessments. These $149 online assessments allow you to show that you have already achieved the skills and knowledge in a particular course and don't need to take it, saving you time and money. We offer prep materials, and you can work with a peer tutor to help you brush up—at no added cost. With the help of transfer credits and self-directed assessments, your BSN Standard degree could be under $60K.
